..something is growing?!

12 Jul

..I had my first real salad the other day..and I had not noticed but I am flush with snow peas..I guess 2 months late is better than not at all! Still..a disappointment. These tomatoes make me want to cry..we were talking about making a large garden earlier in the year..I am glad we didn’t.

I’ve planted so many things that didn’t pan out, it’s ridiculous. Diversify is the key, I think. When the tomatoes fail, enjoy the peas… when the peas get smoked, enjoy the squash… when the squash gets diseased and chewed on, enjoy the taters.

It still sucks when things fail, though.

Your peas and lettuce look great, and your raised beds look so nice. Rich once said on my blog “that’s why they call it gardening and not harvesting.” :)

..yeah the peas really came on..I swear they have doubled in size in a week..and lettuce is fine for now but it is now getting to hot! I am not too worried about the garden..we know we still have alot to learn..we don’t worry too much when something we are experimenting with dies..we sort of expect it. It’s when we think something will grow fine and it doesn’t that bothers us. I really like that quote..it is very appropriate…I have thought of a couple more:

“that’s why they call it driving and not arriving.”
“that’s why they call it skydiving and not splat.”
“that’s why they call it drinking and not Saturday.”

.ok maybe I am reaching here…I am going to use it on A* when she gets home. hehe

I think think the garden looks great… radishes grew, lettuce eventually panned out, can’t wait to snatch a pea every time I walk in the garden, everything else just needs a little time, nurturing (talk to the plants; they like stories about D & L down the road) and of course H2O!! Patience young grasshopper, that’s why they call it hobby gardening not agriculture dependence:) The yard looks sweet. <3

it’s about time you checked in. Yeah the garden does grow well when it is not overwatered. ;)

Also put some niger seed in your suitcase..we are out and the finches are angry with you.

Your garden looks really nice. We never planted any lettuce so yours looks super tasty. We had failures too. There is always something. :)
