Loki

16 Oct

Meet Loki..we met earlier in the week after I saw an ad where someone was getting rid of their 8 month old border collie/jack russell terrier due to jobs changing so we adopted her. I have been keeping an eye out for this mix for a while and she seemed like she had a good personality..friendly and smart..and also very hyper. Nova ( our old deceased border collie) was a spaz until she was 2 and it seems like Loki will be the same..learns quick so far but hard to keep her focus when there is anything at else going on and she does not care about treats ( but does care WAY TOO MUCH ABOUT THE CHICKS).  First night with Loki was difficult as she could not settle in. Night 2 was much better and today she seems to have things all sorted..and she stopped licking Jangos face and chasing him to do it. Jango met her before we brought her home but when Loki gets wound up but there is no off button..he stopped wanting to play after 1/2 hour and started to bare his teeth. Lokis response to this was to lick his teeth and he growled at her..after that Jango didn’t know what to do. Training and getting to know each other is the only thing we have planned..and no, I did not get the puppy just so I would have something to post about.

Need to stop zooming in so much when I am creating those photo grids too..too much distortion when I zoom too much…or stop using a camera phone as my primary camera

Loki looks like a nice dog. Her ears look a bit like a Pittie’s though, not that that’s a bad thing. I always say, the more breeds in a mutt the better…I’d hate to think of a spazzy JRT mixed with a spazzy Border Collie…oh the energy! We think our Cooper is a BC/Lab mix, he got the best of both gene pools – smart yet laid back. Loki looks a bit like him.

Poor Jango doesn’t know what to do with the youngster, eh?

Yes, similar ears but different muzzle..but both are close..you never know with an original heinz but the area where the dog comes from is not pittbull turf for the most part. Not that it would matter but I did scrutinize loki and compare with research before too. She is a total spaz but even this first week has been great as far as progress with Loki is concerned..a work in progress..sometimes after a training session I wonder who got trained more..me or loki.hehe

She is cute..we don’t shy away from work ( and usually make more than we need!) And we loves us the love a dog gives..2 dogs is basically the same as 1 once a rythem is established..hopefully.
