Decorative Road Rock Flowerbed

14 Dec

…we put in a bunch of strawberries where my mother had no room in her yard. Everblooming variety. We put them with the other dug up strawberries at the end of the driveway so the deer or rabbits can eat them in peace next summer. Around the rest of the flowerbed we placed rocks that we dug up. A* poses with a monster we dragged up. We actually went down to the edge of the property line and got most of the bigger rocks out. With the freezing and thawing it was possible to get down enough between the rock and soil to begin wedging them out…in the summer I tried and none of them would budge.  Not sure about the berries in the picture..looked festive. Hehe

Hehe..yes she gets the glory..it is hard work telling me where the rock is to go! Just kidding..A* did the pushing and I did the prying. I need a pry bar though..I was pushing the limits on the garden spade with some of those badboys!

Hello EGB. This is Buck from the Reluctant Homesteaders. I thought it was time to check in on your blog again. I am so impressed by how you deal with much harsher situations than we have. First of all, going off grid is such a cool thing, and a lot of work. Very impressive. And the weather you have is much more challenging than our west coast weather. Maybe we will get a lot more rain, and while that is not as much fun as snow, it is certainly easier to drive in. Finally and perhaps most impressive is blogging from a cell phone. Wow. That takes some skillz. Thanks for the good reads.

Thanks Buck! Love the words of encouragement! I must make it sound tougher than it is cause we have fun! It is an adjustment and sometimes things go wrong but we are learning and have everything we need (not everythin we should have)..we still have a long way to go but life is a journey and not a destination so we don’t fret too much..slow and steady wins the race..hehe. also, i am still reading your blog but something is all messed up with many blogs I read and I cannot comment so keep up the good work yourself! Thanks again!
