..and one of the reasons we came down here..to go to my uncles working farm. Beef cattle, meat birds, laying hens, sheep, guard dogs, beautiful views and a wood-fired water heater. My uncle made this wood-fired hot water heater himself using 2 propane tanks..it is all mechanical and uses a mechanical lever to open and close the air-draft to maintain an optimal waterheat..neat setup!

I’d love to have a wood-fired hot water heater here, that would be a handy thing to have. I never thought of building one…

yeah…fairly simple design really ron but from what I have seen you do I bet it would be something you could do..a simple system run by a circulator pump into his house radiators..he basically tied it to the internal system so it pumps the heated water in and that is as tied as the system gets..he feeds it 2 times a day in winter.his sons actually built their own too and they made biggers ones that are used in summer for hot water..all with minimal wood used

That’s really nifty. We have an efficient electric water heater now but, of course, it takes a ton of energy to turn 50 degree water into 90 degree water. I’d love to do a wood-fired or solar pre-heater if I can figure it out someday.

I had no idea you could have a wood fired water heater. Wow,. Color me stunned.
