A Rare Treat

01 Oct

No, it is not a juicy steak..but the best way to cook a steak is rare. While grabbing the eggs one of the chickens flew the coop so we let all of them out for a couple of hours..they went hogwild on the new grass (but mostly the old fullgrown grass)..they have been cooped up for the better partt of a month while the grass SLOWLY grows..image

..and another treat for us, a (fairly) local an old kerosene light lighthouse we had never been to on a dreary wet day. I bet the view would be great on a clear day..but all we could see was a fog bank..which was pretty in an unclear way.

I just did a major wing trim on all our new hens before moving them to their new digs. Some of them had discovered flying was fun and had taken up laying eggs everywhere. It was annoying.

yeah..we had the same thing happen but our solution was to fence them all in, never trimmed their wings before. SPeaking of the chickens getting out more, Gonzo was out yesterday and acting odd..real slow. SO we picked her to examine her and she started flopping..we put her down and she died on the spot. Not sure if something has been going on that we did not notice..a mystery.
