Winter is coming (insert crying here) and you know what is not really useful in winter? Dirt..and poop..wet wood and canoes are not really all that useful either now that I think about it..soooooo we took down and moved our our squash/woodpile ( and did you notice the security camera in the woodpile from a couple of posts ago..sneaky) and covered it all with a tarp ( the squash was done growing..which became a sidedish at our Turkey dinner) and a canoe..expanded the flowerbed by 5 ft or so…
..used some of the manure we just got as fill in the bed( annuals there next late next spring ) and used some of the fill as fill for the REALLY uneven spots around the bed.
Going to hold off for a week or 2 before using the rest of the fill..I just didn’t have the heart to kill the sunflowers for the sake of progress..I will let Jack Frost do it the dirty work for me then finish off the area.

we just took the cab off of the truck – well jambaloney did it – so that we can go to a friends place and get a truck load of manure to add to all of our raised beds, tires and hugelkultures! then we will top up all of the beds and let that manure do it’s business all winter – woohoo! your place is really starting to look civilized, ya fancy pants – bahahahahah! and ya, leave the sunflowers just so you can look at them and smile!

I am rearing my fancy pants as I type!! hehe…yeah it is amazing what all that poop can do for a garden and flowerbed..We just got a double load again on Saturday too..and we SHOULD be getting regular poop drop-offs every couple of weeks in the area we cut out/destumpted in July! free fill!

I feel like singing a song about poop for you but I haven’t made up any words yet for it. :) Be glad you live in Canada as Lee has to put up with my badly rhyming silly songs on weird subjects when the mood strikes me.
Free fill is nice. Usually the animal owners are going “Oh crap (hehe), where are we going to put this mountain of dung balls today…”

yeah, the horse owners were happy to hear they have a place to stash thier poop for a whole year..a dump (pun intended) every 2 weeks or so.
Yes, I am familiar with people singing odd songs..usually it is A* singing to Jango.

You should hear the songs I sing to my dog Cooper. (Which rhymes with super pooper scooper…it’s sad, really). Eric hears me singing and rolls his eyes, saying, “don’t quit your day job”. LOL…
We’re always happy to pick up horse manure from neighbouring farms and dump it in the garden too. Your flower beds are coming along nicely. Annuals next year will be great.

Manure is great, our neighbor has been putting manure down for 5 years on his property and it looks beautiful now with the lowspots all filled in
