Stack, Rake n’ Burn

12 Nov

Bought some wood stacking end pieces..slide a couple of 2x4s in, a couple shorter ones on the ends and stack away.image

…by the time it was full it stacked around 1/2 cord of wood..we took extra precautions and covered it with vapor barrier too..this was all hardwood so now we can get to the softwood which was originally under this hardwood. Softwood until December then onto hardwood for the most wintery part of winter.

…and we did some more manure moving (another load was dropped off today), rock hauling and burning of some old hardwood floor a friend had brought out to get rid of. We rock picked out some of the cleared area and moved the rocks up to the grassy area rock retaining wall..heavy work.

..and a picture of A* contributing to the work…the manure is 2-3 ft deep in places now so it will be interesting to see how much it reduces next year.

Ahh… so nice to have a dry stack of wood at the end of your deck.

But, but, but…wouldn’t that hardwood floor have made for some amazing kindling?

Then again, I’m the kinda person who cringes every time they see someone leaving a pallet for garbage removal. Just ignore me LOL.

..I KNOW..A* and I got the fire (to burn the wood) going then when we started looking at the wood we noted it would be great kindling..BUT we needed the wood gone due to more manure arriving and time was of the essence so we burned it all in an hour..A* hates junk in the yard so I have been forbidden to allow people to drop stuff off now…I think we have seen the last couch burn at our place! hehe. Pallets are great for bonfires!
