Perfect Installation Weather

26 Jan

“A*..when do you think it would be best to install our new storm door?”

“I would say the summer when it is warm..that way it won’t matter if we keep the door open.”

“Do you want to wait until summer? What is the temperature now?”

“No..and its -17c out.”

“Sounds like perfect installation weather!”

….so we got all of the pieces out of the box and looked things over. WIth the weather that cold we did not want to be standing outside thinking about things too long.

..it took me 15 minutes of looking at the instructions and looking at this 1 piece to figure out how things were supposed to work..

..the actual install was easy..especially on the final attempt where we did everything properly..the first attempt did not quite fit so we had to take it apart and do it again..after reconfiguring things the second assembly took 5 minutes..it is amazing how quick things can go when you have a cold imputus breathing down your back..and numbing your hands.

..and the final assembly (for today )…we started in sun and ended well after dark (not that it took that long)..we have a small adjustment and to finish the door mechanism…to keep it closed we put on the latch on the inside..which works well for closing but it makes it hard to get inside with no handle to turn to open the closing mechanism. hehe

We just hit up Ikea last weekend and Lee was the one staring at directions before putting things together. Thankfully, it didn’t require going outside to install anything though.

I’m not sure how you even use your fingers in weather that cold. Brrrr!
