Tower Power

Purchased a future project..a 50 ft windmill tower. The price was too good to pass up and even if we don’t use it right away we can stash it for later. The original owner had a 4000 watt wind turbine on the tower…he is also selling a 5000 watt Xantrex inverter…but at this point we cannot justify buying it…too much for us both in regards to output and cost.

I am having trouble getting 2 bolts off…but hopefully today or tomorrow we will finish taking it all apart and get to home…and in the future get a smaller wind turbine to augment our system’

Slow Moving…

Come on winter…end already. Between helping my mom renovate her old place, renovate her new place and cutting wood the only thing we have accomplished (besides whining about winter) has been the 15 minute lowering of the corner table. We like it better and we get extra space with the 2 chairs actually being used. The stools are for the deck now..hope ya like premature deck furnishings winter! Take that!

..hopefully the return of the snow is winters last gasp..for 8 months..I predict 17 days until the Spring Peepers begin chirping.

Thaw Please

..well the annual thawing of the driveway ( not to be confused with the running of the bulls in Pamploma) has begun..cool ( but not freezing) nights and warmish days means we have mud on the extended forecast…SInce the thawing begun the driveway has been unusable for driving up in the car so we get to walk..once the snow paths melt we will also be trudging through mud.

Not much going on for updates..betting plants ready and still cutting wood…but now with the Daylight Savings Time switch we should be able to get a little more done in the evenings..and it makes such a huge difference getting that extra hour in the evening..now the sun is up until after 7..or is at least bright until after 7.

21 Tree Salute

..did some cutting and burning this past weekend..The first shot is the area we cut in the pre-woodcutting season warm up…looks much different with the brush all gone. The chot actually looks down the cut property line at the back of the property:

..and this weekends chores..we cut down around 25 softwood trees and burned the brush..took 2 chainsaw tanks of gas and 3 hours..or so….some big and some small trees..we left the hardwood trees for now and we are going to decide a timeline for some work..we are thinking of putting an apple orchard back in this area but it is going to take cutting down 25 BIG hardwood..but if we are not going to get to the orchard this year we will only be making work for ourselves and could do the hardwood trees neaxt winter ( the 30 trees are proabably around 3-6 cord of wood)..we will think about things..but we really want around 25 apple trees!
