2 Groups of 4 Forsythia

22 May

the case of the missing writeups continues..I KNOW I had a writeup for this…anyway.

Hummingbirds are we used up some of the store bought hummingbird food we had gotten from a secret santa..nice to see them..although the number of hummingbirds in the pictures is 0.

We put one batch of the forsythia in behind our main flowerbed and plan on turning it into a hedge of sorts…

..and the other 4 will become privacy bushes so that the view of our place is limited (eventually) from the end of our driveway. The forsythia were fairly cheap so we thought we would take a chance on these (but not these ones) early yellow dashes of color.

Lookin’ good, EGB. Hope you’re getting better weather than we’ve got.

I particularly like the garden plant grouping around the birdbath – you need some pulmonaria (lungwort) in there, although I “think” there might be something purple-ish hiding in the back, hmmm? It would look great with the yellow.

Looks like you’re feeding the hummies with a commercial mix. Make your own – it’s way healthier for them, no colouring nor preservatives. Just use a ratio of 4:1, water to sugar.

Hope the forsythia take! They’re fickle in these parts, but you’re a zone more temperate that we are. They’ll make for a nice show, driving up the drive.

I agree about the hummingbird food..seems so foreign to use the storebought now!

the area near the birdbath is currently undergoing a has some bee-balm beside it and we have not decided what goes in front yet.

I agree..I hope the forsythia take..but even 1 will be enough as they are easy to start for future seasons once you know how. take care!
